THE ART OF THAI MASSAGE

WEEKEND IMMERSION IN BERKELEY

April 25-26th, 2020

The Zen of Touch

We invite you to take this special opportunity to immerse in the art of Thai Massage with seasoned bodywork practitioners and yoga teachers Alok and Anjuli. Together they bring over 22 years of experience as therapists and teachers and love to share their wisdom of healing touch.  Take this valuable opportunity to develop your sensitivity and awareness through touch.  Come with a partner and deepen your sense of connection or come solo and work with different partners throughout the weekend.

Anjuli & Alok have been teaching together for 9 years and have studied with master teachers in the healing arts around the world.  Their teaching blends Thai Massage, Zen Shiatsu, Acupressure, and Myofascial Release techniques and theory.  Rooted in the principles of Thai Medicine and Buddhist spirituality, the practice is framed by respect for all beings, balanced action, and loving-kindness.  Attention to the Chinese Meridians and specific acupressure points will be included.

Details

Through joint mobilization, mindful passive stretching, acupressure, and emphasis on the breath, the blend of ZenThai Shiatsu is an unparalleled therapeutic technique. With proper body mechanics, the practice truly becomes an effortless dance between giver and receiver. As yogis themselves, your teachers will be emphasizing the most fluid and easeful ways to offer compressions and stretching in this course allowing the giver to stay present with the receiver’s experience.

Saturday we will be sharing fundamental skills to calibrate your touch and learn how to give a nourishing full body massage. This training is great for anyone interested in refining their sense of touch and no experience is needed.

Sunday we will teach some more intermediate techniques in side position, learning to use the feet to give deep pressure and delicious stretches. It is preferred that you join us for Saturday’s class, unless you have previous experience with massage or therapeutic touch.
